The Lens centre is equipped with the MecaPlanning Factory software. With the expertise of 3Dsoft, the publisher of digital solutions for industrialising processes and optimising lead times, every step of the renovation chain is automated.

Emil Frey France and BCAuto Enchères are continuing the deployment of their used vehicle reconditioning centres. The second plant has just started operation in Lens, nine months after it was announced. Modelled on the example of the first centre, in Ingrandes-sur-Vienne, the Lens site stretches over a total area of 18,500 m2. As well as the renovation centre, the site houses two new centralised parts platforms for the distributor’s Ford and Renault dealerships. The Lens plant received state funding through the France Relance programme for major industrial projects. The site’s rapid construction and socioeconomic impact made it a perfect fit for the programme.

A gradual start

The first teams to start work, on 14 March, were the washing, inspection and parts staff. The mechanical engineering, bodywork, preparation and quality control teams were deployed once the first inspections had taken place. Finally, photo operators began taking images of the vehicles. In all, 140 employees are already working at the site. This number should rise to 200 by the end of the year, when the centre has reached its cruising speed. Vehicles will come primarily from the group’s 58 dealerships in northern France, but the plant will also meet the needs of BCAuto Enchères and its customers. Nearly 45,000 used vehicles will be reconditioned at the centre every year.
